What Is BricsCAD?
BricsCAD is a professional CAD platform built around DWG. One program covers 2D drafting, 3D modelling, sheet metal, assemblies and BIM, with the edition you choose determining which tools are available. As DWG is its native format, existing drawings can be opened and edited without first converting them into another file type.
Blocks, layers, dimension styles and external references remain part of the drawing, while files saved from BricsCAD stay in DWG. Behind the drafting tools is a full 3D modeller, so you can model a part, generate drawings from it and update those drawings as the model changes. Mechanical tools extend this into sheet metal, assemblies and bills of materials, while BIM adds classified building models and IFC workflows.

Lite provides the 2D foundation of BricsCAD, while Pro includes those same drafting tools and adds 3D modelling capabilities. Perpetual or Subscription?
However you choose to pay, the BricsCAD edition and tools you receive remain the same. The difference is how you manage the cost and future updates. A subscription keeps you on the latest version, while a perpetual licence gives you permanent use of the version you purchase, with future upgrades managed separately.

Moving Up An Edition Later
Upgrading between BricsCAD editions is available to subscription customers, giving businesses the flexibility to adapt their software as their requirements change. As teams grow and design workflows become more demanding, additional tools and features can be added without purchasing a separate licence or starting again.
What You Need to Run BricsCAD
BricsCAD is not demanding by CAD standards. If the machine on your desk was bought in the last few years it will almost certainly run it, and the specification it asks for is nothing out of the ordinary for a working CAD seat.
Where it starts to matter is 3D. Memory and graphics are what you feel on large models and point cloud work, while 2D drafting stays comfortable on considerably less than the figures suggest.

BricsCAD costs from £305 a year for Lite up to £1,060 a year for Ultimate, or £684 to £2,376 as a one-off perpetual licence. Prices are per seat and exclude VAT, and three-year terms come in around 10% cheaper than paying annually.
They build on each other rather than sitting side by side. Lite is 2D drafting. Pro is Lite plus 3D. Mechanical and BIM are each Pro plus one discipline, and they are the only pair that does not include each other. Ultimate is all of them. So the choice is how far up to go, not which of five products to pick.
Yes, on every edition, which is increasingly rare in CAD. It costs a little over two years of subscription, is yours permanently, and includes the first year of maintenance. After that, renewing maintenance is optional.
Yes, at any point, paying only the difference between your edition and the new one. Moving from Pro to Mechanical is £247 a year, and from BIM to Ultimate is £120. Your account manager arranges it.
Yes, and without a conversion step, because DWG is the native format rather than an import filter. Existing drawings open as they are, with blocks, layers and external references intact, and the files you save are ordinary DWGs that open anywhere a DWG opens.
Most do, and LISP is supported from Lite upwards rather than being reserved for the dearer editions. Routines that call functions specific to another CAD package may need adjusting. Send us yours during the trial and we will tell you which ones need work before you commit.
Yes. Licences are per seat, and network licences that float across an office are available as well, which usually works out better for teams who are not all in BricsCAD at once. Call us with the number you need and we will price it properly rather than multiplying the single-seat figure.
