BricsCAD Mechanical is a DWG based CAD package built for mechanical design and manufacturing. It includes all the tools and features found in BricsCAD Pro, while adding dedicated tools for assembly modelling, sheet metal design and bills of materials. It also provides access to an extensive library of standard mechanical parts and components.
You can model individual parts, organise them into assemblies, unfold sheet metal components, and generate associative drawing views and bills of materials from the model. This gives you a single environment for everyday CAD work, mechanical design, detailing and manufacturing documentation, all using DWG.
BricsCAD Mechanical includes all the tools and features found in BricsCAD Pro, plus the six groups of specialist mechanical tools covered below. Every tool we cover comes with a free step by step guide, helping you understand how it works and how to get the most from it.

Start with usable design intelligence instead of a disconnected solid. BricsCAD Mechanical gives existing geometry a meaningful sheet metal structure, providing a much stronger starting point for further design work.

Develop and refine the part while maintaining its sheet metal behaviour. Dimensions, bend properties and features remain editable, making supplier models and legacy parts far more practical to modify without rebuilding them from scratch.

Take the finished design through to manufacturing documentation without creating a separate disconnected model. Folded and flat representations can remain within the same DWG, keeping design and production information closely connected.
For regular mechanical design work, the subscription model provides access to the latest version, updates and price certainty for the full term. A subscription is £882 per year, three years is £2,378, and a perpetual licence is £1,980 as a one-off. All prices exclude VAT. Perpetual includes maintenance for the first year, after which you renew maintenance to keep receiving updates.
Yes. A perpetual licence is £1,980 as a one-off purchase and it is yours to keep. That is £398 less than three years of subscription, and it does not stop working at the end of them. You stay on the version you buy unless you renew maintenance each year.
Sheet metal design and unfolding, assembly design, associative bills of materials and balloons, a standard parts library to ISO, DIN, JIS and ANSI, and the Mechanical Browser. Everything in BricsCAD Pro is included as well.
Mechanical if mechanical design is all your team does. Ultimate if it is one discipline among several, because it includes both Mechanical and BIM in a single licence and usually works out cheaper than buying the editions separately. Most people who call us about Mechanical end up on Ultimate.
Not always, and we will tell you when it is not. Mechanical is strongest where the work is DWG-based detailing, assemblies and sheet metal fabrication. If your product development runs on a feature history tree and your suppliers expect that native format, it is a different kind of tool. Send us a real job and we will give you a straight answer.
Mechanical imports 3D solids and lets you edit them as native components. For a wider set of formats, including STEP, IGES, CATIA, SolidWorks, Parasolid, JT, Creo, NX and Solid Edge, with PMI data, Communicator for BricsCAD is a separately licensed add-on. Tell us what your suppliers send you and we will confirm what comes across before you commit.
Yes, if they are DWG files. BricsCAD is built on DWG, so they open and save without a conversion step, and the drawings you produce open anywhere a DWG opens.
Yes. You pay the difference between the edition you have and the one you are moving to. Speak to your account manager and they will arrange it.
Yes. BricsCAD runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, so a mixed office can use one CAD package across all three.
