How to Activate a BricsCAD Trial Offline
Quick answer: Offline activation works by getting a Host ID from the offline computer, using a second internet-connected device to turn that ID into a licence file, then bringing that file back to the offline computer. You’ll need access to a second device with internet and an Octave account. It still gives you the standard 30-day trial at BricsCAD Ultimate level, same as online activation.
Step 1: Get Your Host ID (on the Offline Computer)
- Launch BricsCAD. When no licence is found, click Activate license in the dialog that appears.
- Click Activate manually… to open the Manual Activation dialog.
- Copy the full Computer Host ID shown there. You’ll need it on the other device in the next step.
Step 2: Generate a Licence File (on a Connected Computer)
- Log in to your Octave account.
- Click your username and select Manage licenses.
- Choose Activate BricsCAD Trial manually.
- Paste the Host ID you copied, then click Activate. A licence file is generated.
- Click Download License File. It saves to your default downloads folder.
Move this file to the offline computer however you’d normally transfer a file between two machines, for example a USB drive or a network share.
Step 3: Apply the Licence File (back on the Offline Computer)
- In the Manual Activation dialog, click Browse.
- Select the licence file you transferred over, then click OK. BricsCAD launches.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I need offline activation instead of the simpler online method? It’s for computers with no internet access, common on secure or air-gapped networks. Online activation is faster whenever it’s available.
Do I need an Octave account to activate offline? Yes. You need to log in on the connected device to generate the licence file, even though the offline computer itself never touches the internet.
Does offline activation give a shorter or different trial than online activation? No. It’s the same 30-day trial at BricsCAD Ultimate level either way; only the activation method differs.
