How to Create Keyboard Shortcuts in BricsCAD

Quick answer: New keyboard shortcuts are created from the Keyboard tab of the Customize dialog, assigned to either an existing tool or one you create on the spot.

Creating a Keyboard Shortcut

  1. In the Customize dialog, click the Keyboard tab.
  2. Either select a menu group, right-click, and choose Append shortcut (adds it below the last existing shortcut), or select an existing shortcut, right-click, and choose Insert shortcut (adds it above the selected one). The Add keyboard shortcut dialog opens.
  3. Either choose Add an existing tool and select one, or choose Add a new tool and create it directly, following the same tool creation procedure covered on this hub’s Managing Toolboxes page.
  4. In the new shortcut’s Properties grid, select the Key field and press the key combination you want to assign.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I actually assign the key combination itself? Select the Key field in the new shortcut’s Properties grid, then simply press the keys you want to use.

Where in BricsCAD do I manage keyboard shortcuts? The Keyboard tab of the Customize dialog.

What’s the difference between Append shortcut and Insert shortcut? Append adds the new one below the last existing shortcut in the menu group; Insert adds it directly above whichever shortcut you’ve selected.
