Quick answer: DIVIDE places markers, points or blocks, along an entity to split it into a specified number of equal parts. Works on lines, polylines, arcs, circles, ellipses, elliptical arcs, and splines. The key difference from MEASURE, covered on the previous page in this hub: DIVIDE asks for a number of segments, while MEASURE asks for an interval distance instead.

Dividing an Entity Using Points

  1. Launch DIVIDE. You’re prompted to select the entity to divide.
  2. Select it. You’re prompted for the number of segments, or to choose insert Blocks.
  3. Type a value and press Enter; the entity divides by points.
