Interactive Installation for BricsCAD

Note: This wizard-based process runs on Windows Installer, so it’s specific to Windows. macOS and Linux each use their own separate installation methods.

Quick answer: On Windows, double-click the installer and step through the Setup Wizard: accept the licence agreement, pick an install location, then install. You don’t need a licence key to get started, installing launches a 30-day trial automatically, and a new major version installs alongside any version you already have rather than replacing it.

How to Run the Interactive Installer

  1. Double-click the installer file, then click Next.
  2. Tick the checkbox to accept the Licence Agreement, then click Next.
  3. Choose an installation folder: accept the default, or click Change… to pick a different location. Click Next.
  4. Click Install to begin.
  5. Once installation finishes, choose whether to add a desktop shortcut and whether to view the release notes, then click Next.
  6. Click Finish.

BricsCAD is now installed and ready to open.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this process work on macOS and Linux too? No. This specific wizard runs on Windows Installer, so it’s Windows-only. macOS and Linux each have their own separate installation methods.

Do I need a licence key to complete installation? No. Installing gets you a 30-day trial with no key required. You’ll only need one when you’re ready to activate a licence you’ve purchased or an academic licence.

Can I install a new version without removing my current one? Yes. Each new major version installs alongside the version you already have rather than replacing it, so you can try a new release without losing access to the one you’re currently working in.
